I've been doing a lot of black-hole knitting lately, it seems, which is not interesting to blog about. See the never-ending Slytherin scarf (four of twelve or thirteen trapped bar sets) & the never-ending Samus body cable (five of eleven 32 row cable repeats).

Then, there was my knitting tragedy. I left the mate to this sock on the plane to Seattle. I am in love with the pattern (and the yarn -- Socks that Rock -- and the needles -- KnitPicks circulars) so I will do some version of it again! When I am finished mourning.
I did finish one crafty thing in March, though, a baby blanket for a co-worker. It's the  Star Baby Afghan, and is easy and fun to crochet. I did it in Caron Simply Soft because it is washable (which is key for a baby) and yet still soft.
Go me! Now I'm working on a Totoro hat, which I should finish tonight, so we'll see. I'm not entirely sold on it yet, so I suppose either way I will report back. I decided to do it in the first place because, well, Totoro rocks, and also I needed some attainable knitting.

I am officially Not Allowed to buy any more yarn to begin any more projects, unless it's for Sarra's birthday scarf. Why? See my list of current Works-in-progress:

• Slytherin scarf for Julie. I'm knitting it flat and seaming it because my circular knitting is twisty and as the scarf is in (lovely) acrylic I can't block it.

• Baudelaire socks from the newest Knitty. I'm doing them in Bearfoot sock yarn, the Rosehip colorway. Very nice. I haven't made much progress (only two repeats of the lace pattern) but I am kind of in love with the yarn. Plus, the pattern forced me to learn the figure 8 cast on which was useful for ...

• Falling leaves socks from an older Knitty. They're in a cheap sock yarn, mostly because I really wanted to start socks that day. I frogged the toe once already, though, because I decided I'd rather do a figure 8 cast-on than a provisional. It's really cool to know for working with self-striping sock yarn, or at least it is cool if you are anal about stripe matching like I am.

• Crocheted afghan for Ellen & Archie. I've swatched most of it, so it's just a matter of fine-tuning the color selections and deciding exactly what the overall pattern will be.

• Drop-stitch scarf for a relative. I couldn't resist some lovely ribbon yarn on sale this weekend at Hilltop. Dangerous!

• ...that might actually be it.
